Robert B. Scholfield House, Los
Angeles Historic Cultural Monument
#613
Declared November 8, 1994
Built in 1953, this was the home of real
estate broker Bob Scholfield, who lived in the house until his death in 2002.
The 779 square foot house was designed by James DeLong, a disciple of Frank
Lloyd Wright, using Wright's Usonian principles. In spite of its small size, the
house conveys a spaciousness through the use of glass and an open floor plan
that makes it feel much larger on the inside than it really is. This home, along
with the adjacent Wolford House (HCM 614), is designed to relate with its
environment, making the outdoor spaces a full part of the living
experience.
